Much of the order we live in was never designed, and much of the rule we live under was. This section sorts the two, on two legs.
Spontaneous order. Language, prices, custom and commons grow without a planner. But an order nobody designed can still be cruel, so how an order arose is never the test. Whether its people agreed, can say no, and can leave is.
Exit. The door is necessary but not enough. Some things can’t be signed away, the people most at risk often have the narrowest doors, and why so many stay under rule they could leave is a question of its own.
